Pink Parcel Period Talk: Eloise, Customer Service Agent

Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing her period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.

This week’s period talk is from Eloise, our Customer Service Agent.

What’s your period craving?

I have a serious thing about cheese. Just cheddar cheese. I go for the mild stuff, and I just break it off in big chunks out of the packet and eat it. It stinks the place out and drives my flatmates mad, but I can’t get enough of it when it’s my time of the month.

I know my period is coming when…

Anything and everything makes me cry. I could see an old man and I’ll be balling, or burn my toast and I’m inconsolable. I should wear a ‘handle with care’ sign around my neck when I’m on. It’s like every emotion is at its most extreme, I’m interesting to be around when it’s my time…

Tell us about your first period…

I was at a tap class! As I was quite a late starter, I had grown fond of the idea that it wouldn’t happen – it’s not a particularly inviting idea. I was in the loos, and pulled my knickers down to a crime scene. I had never been so glad to have friends of a slightly older age. They dealt me the goods and I got on with my tap class.

Tell us a period cringe (we’ve all got one, hey…)

I personally have never had one, but I played a pretty big part in my best friend’s. We were in English, and the dreaded happened – she leaked through her school skirt! Quick thinking from me, I ripped a bit of paper out of my English book and stapled, yes stapled, it to her skirt, covering the stain. She spent the rest of the day walking around with white paper stapled to her grey skirt, but it was far better than the alternative…

Your favourite thing to do when you have your period is…

Two words. Dirty Dancing. Not the activity… the film. Patrick Swayze sorts me right out.
