Pink Parcel Period Talk: Elle, Marketing Assistant

Wouldn’t it be easier if we were all more open about the perfectly normal bodily function we experience each month? We think so. Each week a member of our very own #PPSquad will be sharing her period stories with you. Read, comment, share your own. Every story is welcome here.

This week’s period talk is from Marketing Assistant, Elle.

Elle is 30% pizza when she’s on her period.

My period craving is…

Everything! I will eat everything that I can get my hands on… I must gain a stone within a matter of days. My diet consists of pizza and more pizza.

I know my period is coming when…

I am usually a really positive person so as soon as I start crying for absolutely no reason, I can tell it is on the way. I hysterically cried for about 3 hours because there was no milk in the fridge to make a cup of tea.

My first period…

I had just moved house for about the 3rd time that year and we only had one bathroom downstairs off the kitchen. So I went to have a shower after school, as you do. People would probably think that in the shower would be the best place for your period to start. Erm NO! Obviously, it had started and whilst panicking in the moment, I screamed for my mum, not knowing that all of her friends were round to congratulate her on the move. I ran out of the bathroom, just in my towel into a room full of not only women but middle aged men…

My period cringe is (hey, we’ve all had them)…

Well, I haven’t really had any super embarrassing moments with my period. I make sure I’m always prepared, which is probably the reason. The amount of times I have been out shopping with my friends in crazy busy shopping centres and dropped my bag on the floor is ridiculous. Tampons flying everywhere! The worst time was when I went on my first date with my now boyfriend and I dropped my bag down the escalator… I couldn’t even find half of the tampons that had split out! Since, I have realised that half the population use tampons or pads, so it is seriously not a big issue and he still stuck around so can’t of been too bad! Embrace your tampons!

When I get my period…

I keep myself busy! Although I feel bloated and on the edge of an emotional breakdown 24/7, I find getting on with things I need to do, keeps me busy enough not to think about my period. Eating everything still probably comes first though.
