6 juices to beat PMS symptoms

It’s Friday and you want to kick back and celebrate that work is over for another week. Instead of reaching for the vino however, why not try some juices that not only taste great, but help with your PMS symptoms?

Banish hormonal headaches

A lack of magnesium is often the cause of hormonal headaches, so you need to drink a juice made with spinach and kale. Yes, we know it sounds a little disgusting but add in some pineapple, mint and Granny Smith apples and you’ll have a delicious headache-busting juice.

Relieve cramps

Again, cramps are often a result of low magnesium levels. Try adding some powdered kelp to your favourite juice. It is super rich in magnesium and other fabulous things!

For get up and go

A lack of energy could be down to low iron levels during your period. A juice created with iron rich foods such as beetroots is just what you need. Beetroot on its own is an acquired taste, so try mixing it with carrot and apple juice to take away the earthiness and make it slightly sweeter.

Beat the bloat

Drinking juice from fruits and vegetables with a high water content can help relieve pre-menstrual bloating and water retention. Try a mixture of watermelon and cucumber, with a dash of mint, and that tummy will be back to normal in no time.

Happiness in a glass

If your period makes you a bit teary, then you need to reach for a pineapple! These tasty fruits help boost the production of serotonin – the happy hormone. For an extra PMS-busting boost, try juicing pineapple with carrot and ginger. The ginger is good for pain relief, so can help relieve annoying cramps.
