It’s A Monthly Thing: 10 Reasons We Love April

The start of festival season, serious amounts of chocolate (thank you, Easter Bunny) and a hotly anticipated holiday novel that will grip you from beginning to end – it’s no wonder we are already loving April…

1. Get Festival Ready

Coachella kicks off festival season on 14th April! Let the US music party provide maximum style inspiration for your very own Glasto, V Fest and Wireless wardrobes (enter glitter, ripped denim and amazing headdresses).

2. Sweet Like Chocolate

Yes, that’s right, it’s Easter from 14th April – 17th April which means two things: unlimited chocolate and bank holidays! We suggest you spend the first long weekend of the year scoffing an obscene amount of eggs (because no many is too many).

3. Be A Bruno Superfan

US singer-songwriter Bruno Mars is crossing the pond to play in London from 18th April – 22nd April. Not only is the Grammy Award winner gracing us with his charisma, he’s bringing his amazing live band The Hooligans with him too!

4. A Royal Celebration

Our lovely Queen Elizabeth II is 91 on 21st April, so grab your Union Jack hats, make as many cucumber sandwiches as humanly possible and toast our stylish monarch with a retro street party. Happy Birthday, Lizzie!

5. Get Glued To Girlboss

If you haven’t read Sophia Amoruso’s amazing book #Girlboss, you need to – and pronto – as the New York Times best-seller is being made into a Netflix series, starting 23rd April! It follows Sophia as she builds fashion brand Nasty Gal and its multi-million dollar empire. We. Can’t. Wait.

6. Put Pen To Paper

Is it just us, or is getting a fresh new notebook one of the simplest pleasures in life? National Stationery Week, from 24th April – 30th April, may be about encouraging people to write more and type less but surely there’s no better excuse to hit up Paperchase too…

7. Your Holiday Novel, Sorted!

Loved Girl On The Train? Best-selling author Paula Hawkins who penned the book-turned-blockbuster is back with another psychological thriller on 2nd May! Into The Water investigates the death of a single mother and a teenage girl with just as many twists and turns…

8. Make A Popcorn Date

Get your tickets pre-booked for the thrilling King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword before it hits cinemas on 12th May. Starring Sons Of Anarchy hunk Charlie Hunman, Jude Law, Eric Bana and Idris Elba, we can promise it won’t be a disappointment (in more ways than one…)

9. Sharing Is Caring

Mental Health Awareness Week begins on 8th May. This year’s theme is ‘surviving to thriving’ so whether you are a sufferer yourself or support someone who is, dedicate some time to opening up and addressing all involved with this worthy cause.

10. Music Mania

If you love seriously cheesy music, the Eurovision Song Contest (which begins on 9th May) has got to be this month’s highlight. We can’t promise former X Factor star Lucie Jones will win it for the UK, but we can guarantee you’ll have fun watching them all compete.
