Born in the USA! Our favourite State-side beauty heroes

The USA has given us many great things. Beyoncé. The Kardashians. Marc Jacobs. Krispy Kreme doughnuts. And Bradley Cooper. However, we think the best imports are of the beauty kind, so stock up on one of these fabulous American products today to celebrate their national holiday!

Benetint by Benefit, £24.50

What did we do BB – Before Benefit? This quirky cosmetics line was founded by twins, Jean and Jane Ford in 1976 and has since become a major player on the British beauty scene. In particular we love their much-copied Benetint, which brings a rosy, healthy glow to your cheeks and stays put.

8 Hour Cream by Elizabeth Arden, £26

Even though Elizabeth Arden was born in Canada, she started her beauty empire in America, opening her first Red Door salon in New York in 1910. She created her now legendary 8 hourcream in 1930 and it’s since become a must in make-up bags everywhere thanks to its multi-tasking properties. Find it in this month’s Pink Parcel and use it to moisturise lips, tame eyebrows or add a sheen to cheekbones.

Shimmer Brick by Bobbi Brown, £32.50

Not only do we love Bobbi’s products but also her ideals – she created her range to enable “women who want to look like themselves only prettier and more confident”. Her highlighter gives wearers a glow worthy of any A-lister, yet comes with a much more reasonable price tag. It’s also available in a range of shades to suit all skin tones.

Baby Lips by Maybelline, £2.99

Proving that not all US imports have to break the bank, this lip balm achieved cult status before it reached our shores last year. Beauty editors used to stock up on these lovelies during trips to America and we can see why. For just £3, you get plumper, softer lips thanks to ingredients such as shea butter, vitamins, and centella. Each balm is also tinted so you can prettify your lips while protecting them! Some of you ay have tried this in last months Pink Parcel

Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica, £14.95

The creator of this brand, Jane Wurwand, may have been born in the UK, but she launched Dermalogica in LA in 1986. Her aim was to create a skincare range that didn’t contain lanolin, mineral oil, artificial fragrances, alcohol or artificial colours. The Microfoliant scrub is so gentle to skin that it can be used daily, and helps to make skin look brighter thanks to the unique rice-based enzyme powder and ingredients such as grapefruit and liquorice.
