13 things that WILL make you feel better when it’s your time of the month

Thursday, 22 January 2015

1. This fluffy hot water bottle
The heat will help soothe those tummy pains while the fluffiness will help soothe you. We guarantee you won’t be able to cuddle one without a smile on your face.

2. The ultimate rom-com
Guaranteed to make you smile when you’re feeling a bit down. Ours is 10 Things I Hate About You but other good choices are Love Actually, The Proposal, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days and Pretty Woman.

3. A Teen Parcel
We know we’re blowing our own trumpet, but a parcel packed full of beauty treats and other goodies is scientifically proven* to cheer you up during your period.

* If you count ‘scientifically proven’ to be us asking our subscribers if they like their parcels.

4. Something with an elasticated waist
It’s time to slob out, but it doesn’t mean reaching for your oldest pair of jogging bottoms. These contrast joggers will ensure you slob out in style.

5.
Something sweet
Everyone tells you to eat healthily during your period, but sometimes you just have to give into those sugar cravings. Jealous sweets (as found in this month’s Teen Parcel) are a good middle ground. Practically a health food, they contain no bad stuff but do contain good stuff such as spinach… but we promise you won’t taste it!

6. This T-shirt
If you’re suffering from PMS, this tee says it all. Alternatively, you can list your PMS cravings courtesy of this T-shirt.

7. Some girl power tunes
Whether it’s Wannabe by the Spice Girls, This Is What Makes Us Girls by Lana Del Rey, Run the World (Girls) by Beyoncé or Roar by Katy Perry a girl power anthem can help lift your spirits. Belt it out at the top of your voice, go on!

8. A big bubble bath
A soak in a big bath can help soothe cramps and make you feel happier. We love Zoella’s Soak Opera bubble bath, which apparently calms the senses with its soothing scent. Just don’t fall asleep in the tub!

9. Glittery trainers
Just because.

10. A cuddle
“Don’t touch me. I hate you. Oh god, everyone hates me.” Sounds familiar? While you may feel all over the place, a hug from your mum, dad, siblings or friends can make you feel better and relieve stress. Plus, it feels quite nice.

11. A puppy
See above. If you don’t like cuddling humans, a snuggle with a cute ball of fluff will instantly lift spirits. Remember though a dog is for life, not just for your period.

12. A bright pink lipstick
You may want to curl up and hide away from the world, but a slick of this gorgeous pink Baby Lips balm will give you a boost of confidence and make you look fabulous to boot.

A date with 1D, The Vamps or 5SOS may be unattainable, but you could cuddle up with the One Direction boys underneath this duvet cover. And it doesn’t matter if your look a mess.
